The AKG’s D112 happens to be a favorite among drummers for its ability to pick up the chest pounding sound of a well-tuned kick drum.
The four C518Ms (clamp-on mics for the snare and toms) provide accurate and unobstructed aiming with the aid of its swivel and goose-necks on its shock mount.
The two C1000S mics are the choice for overheads, when isolation is required. However, if the drum-set by itself sounds ideal and the recording environment permitting, we opt to use the AKG C414B XL ST.
