The AKG C 414B-XL II/ST (matched-pair) is perhaps the most versatile microphone in our microphone range.  We use it both individually and as a pair depending on the recording content.

Individually, we have had excellent results from a variety of sources (vocals, instruments and percussion) except instruments with a lot of sub-harmonics.

As a pair, we use it to capture stereo content; for example a performer with the often valuable room acoustics.

It is matched to within 1dB to each other its sensitivity and within 1dB to each other in its frequency response from 300Hz to 8KHz.
